CIRM Course Descriptions

Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals

This course introduces the strategic fundamentals of the value-driven enterprise; the management concepts of organizational design and structure; the basic business processes that will be covered in the CIRM course; and the four basic support functions of quality, human resources, finance and accounting, and information systems.

Identifying and Creating Demand

This course deals with the business processes involved in the definition of the marketplace and in selling the products the enterprise has available or is willing to develop. These business processes include strategies and tactics that identify, define, and quantify customer wants and needs and those that result in mutually profitable sales. This course addresses how to identify and meet customer demand so the rest of an enterprise?s resources can be used effectively to deliver products and services that add value for customers.

Designing Products and Processes

This course examines the systems, approaches, and strategies used by an enterprise to convert a need or innovation into a product, process, or service that meets the expectations of both the enterprise and the customer. A design strategy that seeks to draw on an organization?s strengths and competencies to reinforce and sustain competitive position and value to the customer will be discussed. All activities in the design process, including organizing the design team, determining the resources needed, and identifying the work to be done, will be reviewed.

Delivering Products and Services

This course expands on the concept of the value-driven enterprise that was introduced in the Enterprise Concepts and Fundamentals course. The goal of this course is to examine the systems, approaches, and strategies used by an enterprise to make the transition from concept to product and from customer expectation to product delivery.

Integrated Enterprise Management

This final course serves as a capstone of the entire integrated resource management educational program, uniting all the areas covered in the other four training sessions with the application of strategic thinking to enterprisewide issues, such as the integration of individuals within teams, functions, and the enterprise and the evolution of an enterprise within its environment and over time.
